TEACHING PRACTICE: MORTLAKE

Since 2010 James has operated a teaching practice in Mortlake, South West London.

Age range from 5 to adult.

From beginner to advanced.

Lessons given in students' own home.

Years of successfully entering students for ABRSM grade exams, from prep test to Grade 7. Both Classical and Jazz Grades.

Lesson content includes: development of keyboard technique, music reading and music literacy, improvisation, music theory, musicianship/language of music, music history, music appreciation and awareness, ensemble playing, composition, use of computer aided music notation, playing by ear/transcription, interpreting chord symbols, music arranging.

I currently have some spaces for new students in Mortlake at the following times:

Monday's at 3:30pm. Would probably best suit a younger child, but adults welcome also.

Slots for adults on Monday and Wednesday before 3:30pm. Please enquire for availability.

Lessons adapted entirely to students' interests and abilities. Current pupil interests' include: studying the classical masters, learning to improvise and play Jazz, movie themes, playing pop songs to accompany a singer, lessons for adult hobbyists to learn a skill and enjoy tuneful piano music, Rock School, Salsa, Bossa Nova, boogie woogie, beginner classes for young children, music theory.
